Exercise Bikes

Exercise bikes

Exercise bikes work great for you for a number of reasons. For example, if you are not comfortable with exercising in public then you can do it with an exercise bike at home. Besides, you will not have to worry about the weather or your safety or anything else; you can wear what you like, you can do it any time of the day, it is completely according to your routine and your schedule. Hence, there is hardly better than an exercise bike.

Now, exercise bikes of several different types are available in the market. Out of them, the two most common bikes that are used are an upright bike and a recumbent bike. Both of these bikes have different features and different advantages to offer.

The upright bike is almost like an ordinary road bike with the only difference that it is stationary. On the other hand, a recumbent bike is more different from the common road bike. It has specially placed pedals right in front of you, that is, the rider. This works great because it puts less stress on the rider by making pedalling more natural. Your knee and hip joints remain stress free and hence, less prone to injury.

Several other kinds of exercise bikes are also available in the market. There are the double action bikes. These are basically upright bikes, but, they also include arm handles or handlebars that can move. This provides additional movement for the arms in addition to the legs. This bike gives you enough aerobic activity as well as tones your upper body.

You can find quite some variety in this type of resistance bikes also.

In case of aerobic activity, when you perform it regularly, your body gets used to it and gradually builds strength enough to do it with ease. As a result, you need to keep on challenging it if you want to improve your fitness level. The direct tension bike allows you to do exactly this. In direct tension bikes, you have resistance that you can adjust manually depending upon your level of fitness. This way you can keep challenging yourself to achieve more.

Then there is the air resistance bikes. These bikes provide you an almost natural experience as if you were riding outside against the wind. You are given resistance in terms of air blowing in your opposite direction so that you have to pedal against it.

There are several other kinds of bikes too on the market and you should decide upon the one that suits your needs the best. While exercise bikes offer you the perfect option for working out in your home, you should first consult your doctor about your fitness level. Besides that, when you first begin, always start slow and work your way up as your endurance begins to build up.
